1.The subject of the lesson: Bronchiectasis and Lung Abscess
Study-hours: 4
The aim: The students must be able to diagnose BROCHIECTASIS AND LUNG ABSCESS, determine the severity, and prescribe the proper treatment.
Educational goal:
1. Determine main aetiological factors of BROCHIECTASIS AND LUNG ABSCESS.
2. Learn the modern classification of BROCHIECTASIS AND LUNG ABSCESS.
3. Define the clinical symptoms of BROCHIECTASIS AND LUNG ABSCESS.
4. Make the plan of additional investigation of the patient and analyze their results.
5. Make the clinical diagnosis of the patient with BROCHIECTASIS AND LUNG ABSCESS.
6. Prescribe the proper treatment.
The student must know:

Risk factors for abscess and bronchiectasis. Know ways of getting the infection pathogen to the lung parenchyma. The development of necrotic-inflammatory process, depending on the activity of the immune system, the structure of an abscess at various stages of development, types of resolution of the pathological process. Stages of development bronchoectatic disease (damaging of bronchi, dissemination process in the parenchyma of the lungs, lung tissue remodeling, development of pulmonary hypertension, chronic purulent intoxication, hypoxia and the formation of multiple organ failure). |

Pharmacology |
To know the mechanism of action, indications and contraindications of medicines, which is used in treating of bronchiectasis and lung abscess, be able to write them in the form of recipes. |

Propaedeutic therapy |
Demonstrate skills in examination of patients with bronchiectasis and lung abscess (collecting complaints, history of disease and life, doing an objective examination, analyzing the results diagnostic testing (chest X-ray, functional tests, CBC, general analysis of sputum and other).
