1. Побудована (накреслена) крива попиту відображає вплив цін і доходів на кількісні показники (величину) попиту. Низхідна крива показує ріст попиту в міру зниження цін.
2. Незначне зниження ціни якого-небудь товару мало впливає на величину попиту на цей товар.
3. Поняття перехресної цінової еластичності, еластичності доходів і власне еластичності попиту в залежності від зміни цін допомагають економістам вимірювати гнучкість реакції на зміни цін.
4. У випадку низхідної кривої попиту ми маємо справу або з підвищенням кількісного показника попиту (позитивна процентна зміна) при зниженні цін (негативна процентна зміна), або зі зворотною ситуацією (падіння величини попиту при рості цін).
