  • I saw him somewhere.

В вопросительных конструкциях обычно используются местоимение any и его производные.

  • Is there anything I can do for you?

  • Have you seen him anywhere?

В отрицательных предложениях используются либо местоимение any и его производные:

  • I cannot see him anywhere.

либо отрицательное местоимение no и его производные:

  • There is nobody in this room. (Ср.: There isn't anybody in this room.)

Различия между местоимениями any и some в степени неопределенности, поэтому иногда местоимение any можно встретить в утвердительных предложениях:

  • You can find this book anywhere

Эту книгу вы можете найти где угодно.

Exercise 14. Fill in the blanks with defining pronouns 'both' or 'either' or an indefinite pronoun 'neither'.

4.It wasn't a good football match. .... team played well.

5."Is your friend English or American?" - " .... . She's Australian."

Местоимения many (много) и few (мало) употребляются с исчисляемыми существительными.

Местоимения much (много) и little (мало) употребляются с неисчисляемыми существительными.

Местоимения many и much употребляются, как правило, в вопросительных и отрицательных предложениях.

В утвердительных предложениях many, much употребляются тогда, когда к ним есть определение, выраженное словами very, so, too или когда они являются в предложении подлежащим или определением к подлежащему.

В других случаях в утвердительных предложениях вместо many и much употребляются a lot (of), lots (of), plenty (of), a great deal (of).

Местoимение little и местоименное выражение a little употребляется с неисчисляемыми существительными, местоимение few и местоименное выражение a few - с исчисляемыми.
