The present continuous (present progressive) tense
Present Continuous
What are you doing now?
Don't you see I'm writing a letter.
- Couldn't you lend me the book you bought yesterday?
- Sorry, but I'm reading it myself.
- Where are you staying?
- I'm staying at my friend's.
в разговорной речи Present Continuous часто употребляется для выражения отдельных намеченных на ближайшее будущее действий (в особенности с глаголами to come, to stay, to call и выражениях to have guests; to give a party и т.п.):
When are you coming to see us?
She is giving a birthday party tomorrow.
4) Present Continuos употребляется также для выражения постоянной привычки или наклонности; в этом случае глагол сопровождается наречиями always, constantly, all the time и т.п.
You're always coming late!
He is constantly getting into trouble.
- What are you going to do with your old toys?
- I'm going to present them to my little brother.
Present Continuous образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола to be в Present Indefinite и Present Participle (причастия настоящего времени) основного глагола:
am/is/are + Ving
