My Future Profession

I study at the Urals Institute for Finance and Law. It trains inves­tigators, judges, procurators, counsels, jurisconsults. Our students have their practical training in the law enforcement bodies. Officers of the Police keep law and order, fight against criminality, prevent and solve crimes. Many of our students will work at the Police. Therefore they should study law and master special means, methods and forms of fight­ing crime and be ready to operate well under operational conditions.

Some of our graduates will work at the Procurator's office. It exercises general supervision over the observance of laws. Procurators must be independent of any local bodies of state power. The procurator maintains the prosecution before the court. After the trial he examines the sentences passed by the court as to their lawfulness.

Some of our students will work as judges at the People's Court. It tries criminal and civil cases. According to the Constitution judges are independent and subject only to the law. To be appointed judge a lawyer must pass the qualification exam.

Nowadays there is a great demand for lawyers working in the sphere of legal services in new economic structures. That's why our in­stitute also trains lawyers, legal advisers to work in different firms, joint ventures, stock exchanges, banks and other offices. The students study a number of subjects to operate well under new economic conditions. They learn the main principles of business activity, economy manage­ment, marketing, business law, contract law and so on.

Our students will also work at the Notary Offices. They must be able to make contracts, to check the legality of all transactions or documents they witness. Their duty also consists in helping applicants to make wills and drawing up deeds of purchase and sale and for the conveyance of estates.
