7. The difference between teenagers and adults in the attitude to shopping and in their tastes in clothes (text «Shopping with Mom»)
Shopping-a most important part of our everyday life. But the people’s attitude depends on the age.
Youngest people-buy the first think they like, women-continue shopping even if they like the previous cloth: like to compare it with smth else or go window shopping.
Mostly all girls and women like shopping. But sometimes tastes of daughter and mum don’t coincide-the shopping turns into cruel.
1.daughter thinks-she has awful figure and mother insists on buying short dress. 2. the girl is thick and she wants something
short-they face with misunderstanding. And neither mum nor daughter can complain point of view as another doesn’t listen. the best advice for mom -don’t use such words as you look awful, it’s not for you, you are too big or you are too thick.
3.Most mums like dresses which were fashionable in their youth and they are insisting on buying such clothes. and girls can’t explain to mums that it’s not trendy now.
8. The ways people do their shopping (text «How do you do the shopping»)
Shop- a most imp. part of our life and besides.some can’t imagine their life without it-others consid it to be boring and tiresome. On the whole there’re various ways different people do their shopping.
First of all, some consumers, esp. in supermarkets, always make up a list of goods that must be bought. they do so bec they are afraid to forget things they need. who are not keen on shopping, try to leave the supermarket as quickly as possible-tend to get in a bad mood during shopping. They prefer to shop on their own consid. it the best way of spending time together with their friends or even colleagues-can easily negotiate with salesmen-often manage to find bargains.
consumers who always exactly know what they need: quickly go from one shelf to an., putting in their trolleys goods. hate standing in a line. often people do window-shopping, esp. it concerns women. They enjoy walking up and down in front of shop windows looking at the range of goods on display. Speaking of myself, I must prefer going to the market and do my shopping very quickly as I’m always in a hurry. Nevertheless, if I have enough time I like to walk slowly looking at the range of goods on display. Furthermore, prices on the market without any doubt are considerable lower, so I am able to save my money.
9. Children with exceptional intellectual abilities (text «How Ruth made History at Oxford»)
People have different intellectual abilities:1-may be good at anything 2-are keen only on a few subjects3-intellectual development goes much quicklier than their age—these are often called children-prodigy.
I don’t know such people but I’ve an intr. article about a girl named Ruth Lawrence, who passed the entrance exam for St. Hugh’s College and was offered a scholarship from it.the girl began to read-4 and started academic subjects-5. Ruth is keen on English, History, Geography, Nature Study, but her major is Math. she plays the piano and has quite a wide range of interests.Ruth has
never attended school, because her parents decided to educate Ruth at home. he expects her daughter to take further degree and would be able to become a research professor in Math. The principle of the college also very excited about Ruth and her future tutor admits that taking such a young student is a great responsibility, and he will do his best to tailor the teaching to Ruth’s requirements.
In my opinion, it was rather thoughtlessly of Ruth’s parents to educate her at home. Of course, on the one hand Ruth might get to the top and become a famous respectful professor of Math, but on the other hand, she might come across with difficulties in socializing with other people, as she spent too much time on her own.
