In the modern world, people are more and more beginning to wonder about the sport, the healthy way of life. Therefore, there are many people wanting to start ballroom dancing, as it contributes to the development of good posture and beautiful gait, develops “immunity” to various diseases, prolongs life.

Ballroom dances have unique history, which defined their popularity as a method of relaxation, as well as competitive sport. Ballrooms dancing, as we know them today, were born in England in the late XVIII - early XIX century. In the early 20s of this century has been the development of competition in ballroom dancing. In 1924 in England by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance Department was created in ballroom dancing. Its task was to develop standards for the music, steps and ballroom dancing techniques. Gradually the sport dances spread throughout Europe and reached Asia and America.

In the modern world ballroom dancing are an essential attribute of any festive event, be it a wedding, ball, or festival. Ballroom dancing is a real decoration of the celebration, elegant movements whirling pairs present a real explosion of positive feelings and emotions, creating a cheerful mood and aesthetic satisfaction of watching public. Ballroom dancing for a unique harmony of plastic and grace are recognized as one of the most beautiful and spectacular sport. They are divided into two programs: the European and Latin American.

Dance is the expression of their feelings by movements, it is the mysterious language of the soul, the cheerfulness and the flight of the senses. You can dance at any age, in any physical training. For a long time, ballroom dancing is not attitude to the sport, and especially no question about the participation of dancers in the Olympics. But today take a dance class became popular, relevant, and most importantly affordable for all. Ballroom dancing also became a dance sport and in 2016 summer Olympics ballroom dances finally become part of the program.

I chose this topic because I am engaged in ballroom dancing for 12 years myself.

In this research work I had the following tasks: to trace the history of ballroom dance, to learn the achievements of the best dancers of the world, to establish the ratio of sports and concepts “ballroom dance”. These objectives led me to the aim of my project, it is to identify the value of sports ballroom dances in modern society.

The methods of my project are: gathering, analyses and systematization of information.
