Text a. My Speciality
I am a second –year student of the Faculty of Technology and Design of Kherson National Technical University.
After graduating from the University I shall become an engineer- chemistry technologist.
My future speciality is chemical technology of organic substances . This speciality is very interesting and useful for our country’s economy.
Our faculty trains specialists for the chemical industry on such specialities as “Technology of fermentation and wine-making”, “Technology of Storing, Preserving and Processing of Fruit and Vegetables”, “Chemical Technology of Organic Substances”, “Chemical Technology of Inorganic Substances”, “Chemical Technology and Equipment of Finishing Enterprises”. Our department trains specialists for the textile industry on speciality “Chemical Technology and Equipment of Finishing Enterprises”.
Now that the country is through a period of qualitative changes in its economy the higher school acquires a special task to train engineers of a new type who would combine fundamental knowledge with a high professional level and practical training in the specific field of national economy.
Higher technical education is a component of our country’s higher educational system.
The course of study lasts 5 years. To obtain all the necessary knowledge for the practical work we study special subjects as organic chemistry , analytical chemistry ,physical chemistry ,technology of experiment ,micro-organic synthesis , chemistry of silicon-organic substances , polymeric chemistry and others. Also we study many materials such as plastics , polymers and some non-ferrous metals as gold, silver , copper ,lead, tin, zinc. But it is impossible to become a good specialist without deep knowledge of many general subjects. The students of our department study higher mathematics, physics, the history of Ukraine, philosophy, a foreign language. Besides we have to know computation technology, industrial economy.
Along with the essential subjects, engineering students study the modern scientific and technological achievements, research methods and take field training.
The academic activities for subjects fall into such types: lectures, seminars, practical classes, laboratories, tutorials, credits, examinations.
Students’ participation in research is one of the most effective methods for training high-qualified specialists capable of taking part in the rapidly developing scientific and technological revolution. Students are engaged in research under the guidance of professors, instructors, engineers.
In the fifth year of education after the diploma practice the students have to do their diploma design.
Having graduated from the University we shall work at the textile mills, at dry cleaning enterprises or at any chemical plant in all regions of Ukraine.
Our task will be to plan and organize synthesis of materials, to test old methods and techniques of chemical processes and to find and put into practice new progressive ways of synthesis of materials.
