Shakharim kudiberdiev
East Kazakhstan is the land of Great people. Abai Kunanbaev, Shakharim Kudiberdiev, Mukhtar Auezov are the most significant names in Kazakh history and literature. The destinies of these people are closely connected.
Shakharim was born on July 11, 1858. At the age of 5 he was taught Persian, Arabic, Turkish, and Russian languages.
His childhood was untroubled though he became an orphan when he was 7.
The boy was brought up by his mighty grandfather Kunanbai and uncle Abai. Later in co-author with Abai, Shakharim would compose unique Kazakh songs.
He played the violin, the accordion, the street–organ, the dombra. Shakhaim had a clever pair of hands and made musical instruments by himself.
He liked to draw, to cut out and to sew. He was interested in medicine and even tried to made artificial limb for golden eagle’s talon.
First poems were written when Shakharim was 14, but only in his forties he devoted his life to literature. He admired Khaphiz, Phizuli, Navoi, Pushkin,
Bairon, Tolstoy and translated their works into Kazakh.
History, philosophy, music, geography, literature were his meaning of life.
He worked in libraries of Mecca, Medina and Istanbul.
Above all Shakharim was a fair politician. He was guiltlessly condemned and secretly shot.
For a while people forgot Shakharim. Now his name sounds respectfully in many languages.
