Barrel, cask, hogshead, keg
Cловa barrel, cask переводятся на русский язык как «бочка», «бочонок». Слово hogshead означает большую бочку, а слово keg – бочонок (емкостью до 10 галлонов). При выборе наиболее удачного варианта перевода необходимо учитывать размер тары.
Следует помнить, что слово barrel (баррель) служит для обозначения меры жидких, сыпучих и некоторых твердых материалов. Например, баррель – это единица объема, используемая в нефтяной промышленности (42 американских галлона или 35 английских галлонов).
2. Paint vs dye
Вышеуказанные слова могут переводиться на русский язык как «краска». Следует учитывать, что слово dye также означает красящее вещество, краситель (для тканей, шерсти).
3. Stevedore, stevedores
Слово stevedore переводится на русский язык как «портовый грузчик». Однако, следует учесть, что во множественном числе это слово может означать компании, занимающиеся организацией погрузочно-разгрузочных работ в порту.
