Introduction

Nowadays our world undergoes incessant changes, which include globalization, acceleration of society development pace, transition to post-industrial and informational society, huge widening of cross cultural interaction scale, appearance and growth of global problems and growth of human capital. In this connection, our world needs a modern society, which can not only endure the similar tempo of development, but diligently set up new goals and solve new problems.

Education plays a major role in formation of new-level society. Goals, paradigms and methods which were actual 10 years ago, have to give way to new goals, paradigms and modern methods. If in the past the result of educational process was a student which had knowledge, attainments and skills from the teachers, but now the result of educational process is competent personality in specific field of study.

However, in modern world students get to know world cultural fond and native fond at the same time (Internet, foreign films and music, magazines and papers, recreation abroad) and it make the evident fact , that intercultural competence is inalienable part of communicative competence. Different students bring differing goals and motivations to the intercultural experience that result in varying levels of competence. Some wish to achieve behavior like native speaker in the host culture; others may be content simply to gain acceptance. As a result, students often modify their initial perspectives of the world or "worldview".

But what exactly is intercultural competence? Although this term is in wide use today, there is no clear consensus about what it is. The problem of cross-cultural communication and intercultural competence is the subject of numerous studies, both foreign and Russian scientists. Some researchers stress global knowledge, others emphasize sensitivity, and still others point to certain skills.

In spite of increased attention to cross-cultural competence formation of students, the issue of becoming a person which competent in intercultural communication is not studied enough.

The currency of this theme contain the idea, that conception of cross-cultural competence and methods of its formation closely connected with ability to analyzing and perception of foreign language, its structure and elements, and also to everyday communication with people of another culture and nationalities.

The subject of this research is intercultural communication competence and the process of it formation.

The goal of my research is describing and explanation of definition “intercultural competence” and finding the basic elements and methods of its formation in the process of studying of foreign language.

The tasks of my research are following:

  • understanding of the meaning of intercultural communication competence

  • analysis of different elements of intercultural competence

  • strategies of intercultural communication competence formation in the process of learning foreign language
