Тюрьма. Дезмонд и Линда сидят друг напротив друга.

Линда встает и начинает уходить, Дезмонд тоже встает со своего места.

Выходит Марта

Martha: I know it. Max won’t let something wrong happen to him. God saves them. God save them all, honey…

Prudence: I hope so…but…I have a bad feeling…

Martha: Why? Stop it, Prudence. Don’t you know, it’s going to be alright?

Prudence: Yes, you’re probably right…

Сцена четвертая

Двое санитаров выкатывают носилки, на них лежит Джуд. Санитары уходят. Начинает играть Let it be

В этот момент на сцену в образе все того же призрака выходит Мэри, мать Джуда

Во время припева Макс тихим голосом произносит «I hope you hear me. I hope you’ll be alright. War is over. We’re coming home. I won’t let you die here and now, or I don’t dare to be your friend!». Мэри уходит.

На этих строках Джуд поет слабым голосом, протягивая руку в сторону ушедшей Мэри. Затем он видит сидящего рядом Макса и поет, обращаясь к нему:

Последующие строки припева поются не Джудом, а хором, либо дуэтом Марты и Пруденс, но достаточно тихо, чтобы слышать диалог Макса и Джуда (количество повторяющихся строк можно увеличить ради достижения требуемого эффекта):

Jude: What?!

Max: War is over, Jude! Isn’t it great??

Джуд встает с носилок и, оттолкнув их за сцену, уходит и сам. Следом уходит и Макс.

Линда и Николь

Linda: Nicol! Nicol!

Nicol: What happened?

Linda: Desmond! He is being released from prison!

Nicol: Girl, you’re making a big mistake…

Linda: No! He’s a good guy, you’ll see!

Выходит Дезмонд и его банда – все в куртках

Linda: Desmond? But…you promised me, that your gang is over!

Desmond (к парням): Look! My little bird seems to be afraid! (смеется)

Nicol (закрывает собой Линду): If you only dare…

Desmond (поднимает руки вверх): You don't need to. I solemnly swear, that now and forevermore I, Desmong Harrison, and my guys are police helpers. No more criminal, only getting kittens from trees!
