На сцену, скандируя строчку «Don’t you know, it’s going to be alright?» выходит множество молодых людей с транспарантами и табличками. Это молодежный митинг против войны. Во главе это группы людей – Марта и Пруденс.

Prudence: So, that’s how you want to stop this war. And you really think that it will work?

Martha: Why not? As for me, it’s much better, than blowing the bombs.

Prudence: I completely agree. Let’s do this!

Против толпы выходит Дезмонд с коробкой в руках

Desmond: Words don’t matter anything! You can’t stop all this senseless killing just by speaking! We shouldn’t just “cancel” this war! We should destroy it!

На сцене напротив толпы выходит двое полицейских и арестовывают человека с коробкой. Они остаются стоять напротив митингующих.

На последних строках Линда пытается пробиться к Дезмонду через толпу митингующих, но его уводят полицейские. Наконец поток митингующих «уносит» линду со сцены.

Сцена четвертая «The Cavern». Линда, Николь и Пруденс прибираются в кафе после очередного рабочего дня. Линда выглядит подавленной.

Nicol (к Пруденс): What’s wrong with her? She seems to be beside herself…

К ним подходит Линда
