Read and translate the text. English in my life
In the past century, English has become an international language mostly because of the technology progress, but also thanks to their effort in the global peace. People have contacts with English every day, every hour, and every minute. Every product contains indications written in English, most of the computers we buy have operating systems in English, or made by English corporations.
We listen to English songs, we watch English TV programmes, we even express sometimes in English but, unfortunately, in impolite ways. I can say that English is served to us. But in the most of the cases, pupils throw it away. We are offered the chance to learn an international language we can use it very much in our lives, and what do we do? We just kick it!
We can say that English surrounds us every day, but it's up to us to learn it because these days English is used almost everywhere. These days most of the good jobs require us to know a second language in the most of the cases English and French.
We say that we learn English at school, but we never have the chance to use English outside the classroom, and when we finally have the chance to use it in a meeting or something like that , we know so much, and we are so nervous, that we don't know what do to say.
In the international communications English has a very important role. What do we say when we are in an unknown city from France, what is the first question that we ask the first man our way: "Do you speak English?"
I use English outside the classroom when I practice my charisma in front of the mirror, I listen to English songs, I watch English movies and TV programmes, I even read English books, but as far as I watch the life in this country, I'm starting to understand that This will be no use to me, at least in this dammed country. But, in the spite of these occurrences, I try to study English as much as I can, I go to the English contests, because I think that we might have a chance in life if we study now as much as we can.
I never had the chance to go in an English-speaking country, most of because I couldn't afford it. In this country there are probably many talented children, but many of them don't have the chance to go in an English-speaking country, because of the life that becomes harder day by day.
