P resent Perfect (Have/has been)

I/You/ have been in Almaty since 1990.

We/You/They

He/She/It has lived in Astana for 5 years.

We use for with a period of time – 7 minutes, 3 weeks, 8 years, half an hour, ages.

We use since with a point of time – 6 o’clock, 1st January, 1990, Monday.
