Articles with uncountable nouns.

There are some uncountable nouns that are NEVER used with the indefinite article. The list includes: advice, approval, assistance, concern, guidance, information, permission, progress, health, luck, money, nature, news, weather

She was making great progress

He told me terrible news

They still can be used with the definite article when they are modified by a limiting attribute or the limitation is clear from the context

She told me of the progress, she was making.

The news she mentioned was terrible.

NOTE: The noun work can be both uncountable and countable, depending on the meaning. If it means ‘any activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a result (translated работа)’ it can NOT be used with the indefinite article. If it has a meaning ‘a literary or musical composition or other piece of art’ (translated произведение искусства) the article is used according to the general rule of using articles with countable nouns.

What kind of work do you do now?

In my opinion, this is a remarkable work of Shakespeare.
