UNIT 6
GRAMMAR:
The main forms of the verbs
В английском языке глагол имеет четыре основные формы: первая форма – инфинитив (V), вторая – форма прошедшего времени группы Indefinite (V2), третья – причастие II (V3), четвертая форма – причастие I (V-ing). Например: to open – opened – opened – opening. Эти формы в сочетании с вспомогательными глаголами служат для образования всех глагольных форм.
The Past Indefinite Tense
Прошедшее неопределенное время (the Past Indefinite Tense) употребляется в следующих случаях.
1. Для описания действий, происходивших в прошлом, как завершившихся, так и незавершившихся, но не связанных с настоящим. Прошедшее время может характеризоваться обстоятельством времени: yesterday вчера, last week на прошлой неделе, a month ago месяц назад, on Sunday в воскресенье, in 1980 в 1980 и др. Например: I met my friend the other day. На днях я встретил своего друга.
2. Для описания ряда последовательных действий в прошлом. Например: He came up to the house, took the key and opened the door. Он подошел к дому, взял ключ и открыл дверь.
3. Для описания обычных, повторяющихся действий в прошлом. Например: When I was a student, I rode my bike to classes. Когда я был студентом, я ездил на занятия на велосипеде. В аналогичных случаях вместо Past Indefinite может использоваться конструкция used to + инфинитив глагола: I used to ride … Я обычно ездил …
Образование the Past Indefinite Tense
Форма Past Indefinite Tense правильных глаголов образуется путем прибавления к основе глагола окончания -ed: to talk (говорить) – talked.
Окончание -ed читается как [id] после согласных t, d: wanted, как [d] – после звонких и после гласных: rained, played и как [t] – после глухих согласных: worked.
Орфографические изменения при образовании формы Past Indefinite:
– буква -y перед согласной меняется на -i: to try – tried;
– согласная, которой предшествует краткая гласная, удваивается: to stop – stopped.
Форму неправильных глаголов (вторую форму) следует заучивать, например: have – had, meet – met.
Глагол to be относится к группе неправильных глаголов и имеет следующие формы в Past Indefinite: was – для 1-го и 3-го лица единственного числа; were – для 2-го лица единственного числа и всех лиц множественного числа. Структура образования вопросительной и отрицательной форм глагола to be в Past Indefinite Tense полностью соответствует способам образования вопросительной и отрицательной форм в Present Indefinite Tense. Например:
I was at home yesterday. Was she at home yesterday? – Yes, she was. (No, she was not).
We were at the library yesterday. Where were they? – At home.
You weren’t at the library yesterday, were you? – Yes, we were. (No, we weren’t).
Вопросительная и отрицательная формы других глаголов кроме глагола to be и модальных глаголов образуются при помощи вспомогательного глагола to do в Past Indefinite – did и инфинитива смыслового глагола без частицы to: Did you meet him yesterday? – I didn’t meet him yesterday. Ты встретил его вчера? – Я не встретил его вчера.
positive |
negative |
interrogative |
I (you/he/she/we, etc.) returned home yesterday.
|
I (you/he/she/we, etc.) did not (didn’t) return home yesterday. |
Did you (he/she/we, etc.) return home yesterday? |
Примеры образования специальных и разделительных вопросов:
When did you return home? Yesterday.
Who returned home yesterday? (вопрос к подлежащему образуется без вспомогательного глагола did)
You returned home yesterday, didn’t you?
Примеры образования кратких ответов:
Did you learn the rule? – Yes, I did.
No, I did not (didn’t).
Список основных форм неправильных глаголов прилагается в конце учебника.
