ABOUT MYSELF

Let me introduce myself. My name is Ivan. I was named after my father and I am very proud of it. I was born in 1975 in the family of official workers. My father’s name is Ivan Petrovich. He is 50 years old. He is an economist by profession. He works a lot and he has free time only on weekends. My mother’s name is Svetlana Ivanovna. She is 50. She works as a teacher. She is a pleasant-looking woman. I like my parents. I am not the only child in the family. I have a brother and a sister. The name of my brother is Peter. He is 18 years old. He is a student. My sister is Irene. She is 8. We are a friendly Russian family. We love and respect each other.

Now I am a first-year student of the correspondence faculty at the Bryansk Branch of the Oryol Regional Academy of State Service. The Bryansk Branch of the Oryol Regional Academy of State Service was organized in 1998. It is headed by the candidate of political science Tatiana Sergeevna Bolhovitina. The Bryansk Branch of the Oryol Regional Academy of State Service is one of the leading educational institutions in the Bryansk region which trains and retrains the state and municipal employees. People can get here the following specialties: «State and Municipal Administration»; «Organizational Management»; «Jurisprudence»; «Finance and Credit». I’m going to become a manager. Meanwhile I work as an accountant. I’m fond of my work.

My family lives in Klintsy of the Bryansk region. The total area of the Bryansk region is 34,900 square km. The population is 1,500,000 people. The Bryansk region borders on the Chernigov, Sumi regions of the Ukraine, the Gomel, Mogilev regions of Byelorussia, the Smolensk, Kaluga, Oryol and Kursk regions of the RF. The Bryansk region is famous for its nature: it is rich in forests, rivers and lakes.

The Bryansk region is one of the industrial centres of the RF. Our plants produce Diesel engines, diesel locomotives, refrigerator sections, irrigation and agricultural machines, tractors, instruments and equipment, steel, timber, cement, brick, mineral fertilizer, different consumer goods and foodstuffs. Agriculture also plays an important role in development of the region. The leading branch of agriculture is livestock-breeding.

So, I love my native place and my country. The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world. It has a total area of about 17 mln square kilometres, its population is about 150 million. There is hardly a country in the world where such variety of scenery and vegetation can be found. We have steppes in the south, plains and forests in the midland, tundra and taiga in the north, highlands and deserts in the east. There are many rivers in Russia: the Volga, and the Ob, the Yenissei... The Russian Federation is very rich in natural resources. It has deposits of oil, natural gas, coal, iron ore, nickel, gold, diamonds, zinc and almost all other minerals.

Russia is a presidential republic. It is one of the leading powers in the world. The capital of the Russian Federation is Moscow, with the population of about 10 million people. Moscow is a political, economic, commercial and cultural centre of Russia. Moscow is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The heart of Moscow is Red Square. There are a lot of beautiful palaces, old mansions, cathedrals, churches and monuments, museums, theatres.
