Comment upon the quotation: “Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood…Make big plans, aim high in hope and work” (Daniel h. Burnham)
Find a man that has a dream. I mean a passionate, who can’t see anything else but dream. Then, find a man who has no purpose. I mean the guy who doesn’t really seem too excited about anything in his life. Set these two men together side by side. What is the noticeable difference between the two men? The man with a dream, with the big plan, will be noticeably full of life.
Many people believe that you only get one chance on this planet. With that philosophy in mind, why waste a life staying small? Aiming high wakes a person up. It makes us part of something bigger than ourselves. Having a life filled with small plans makes life flavorless and lackluster in color. It is by reaching beyond our perceived means that we are tested. It is by testing ourselves that we become conscious of our abilities, thereby becoming conscious of our lives.
Remember yourself, your reaction when your biggest dream comes true. It fills entire you with happiness and satisfaction. I think this is the feeling everyone should experience at least once in one’s life.
Comment upon the quotation: “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now” (Alan Lakein)
Planning smth is really important for your life and career. It makes them more organized and predictable. This quote means that when you want to achieve smth you should plan it. And when you plan smth it’s like imaging your future steps as you are doing them now. So when you think about smth you can do in future, for example, about the journey, you try to compose the full picture of it. You decide which country you’ll go to, choose the hotel, think over the excursions you can take etc. So that you trip won’t become a catastrophe even though in its organization.
The purpose of the planning process is to get a clear mental picture of what you need to do. A planning process can be considered effective only if it provides you with a clear picture, because you cannot act without a picture. Planning enables you to get these clear pictures, or a better view of what you want to achieve, how you want to achieve it, and when you want that to happen. To put it simply, it serves as reliable guide an direction en route to the fulfillment of both personal and professional goals and objectives. Good managers and office workers always make a daily and monthly plan. It really makes work more effective.
Comment upon the quotation: “Competition brings out the best in products and the worst in people” (David Sarnoff)
This quote involves both the good and bad that can come out of competition. I’ll be honest here and admit that I really detest competition but in real life, I mean in friendships, in family, on the workplace. I find it not appropriate because, when you are with people whom you like and with whom you feel calm, no one is better. I think it’s selfish to put yourself above (higher?) another person (think that you are better than someone). I get the idea of competition when it comes to business, because even in competition there can be a wide range of products of different quality so you can always choose the best item.
