Say when: the Beatles were at the height of their fame; actors enjoy favourable acclaim; actors become celebrities; European film actors of eminence have festivals.
Say what helps actors rise to stardom.
Task 2. A. Pick out three-four synonyms in every list suggested. Look them up in an English-English dictionary, comment on their meanings. Use the words in situations of your own.
Applaud (clamorously, deafeningly, enthusiastically, thunderously).

Task 3. Translate the sentences from Ukrainian into English in writing.

SOUND AND INTONATION PRACTICE
Read the following proverbs. Observe the correct pronunciation of the reiterated sounds. Comment on the intonation contours used in the utterances.
Learn the proverbs. Use them in situations of your own. Art is long, life is short. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever. Footprints on the sands of time are not made by sitting down. Exercise 3. Do you know what the functions of different people who take part in creating performances for our entertainment are? Let’s check it! Exercise 4. A) You are a young but very talented and ambitious director of a theatre where you want to create the main centre of entertainment (drama, music, ballet). Your success depends on the theatre staff you’re going to employ. Read about the people you need, write down the list of them.

(You may need some information about how a play makes its appearance on the stage. There is such in text ‘At the Theatre’ on p.46 of this method-guide (in the last three paragraphs of the text). Find!
