Kostanai State University.

Kazakhstan is an independent country. All the people here have every opportunity to study. There are a lot of different educational establishments in our country: schools, technical schools, colleges, institutes, universities, academies. Kostanai State University is one of them. The number of students at the university is about 7000. It is one of the biggest educational establishments in the Republic.

There are 7 faculties at the university. Some students study at the university without leaving their work at plants, offices, on farms. They are extra – mural students. Extra – mural training especially suits the people who live and work far from the university. They are given instructions how to study and they work on their own. Twice a year they come to the university to attend lectures, seminars and tutorials and to take their examinations.

But most students are day – time students. The students have everything necessary for their studies. The libraries supply them with books, textbooks, instructions, literature on special subjects and so on. The class-rooms and lecture-halls are large, well-lighted and clean. The numerous laboratories are equipped modern apparatus, devices, computers to provide a high level of training. The students not only acquire a good knowledge but also carry out research work.

All the students of our university take an active part in social activities and go in for sports. Some of them train for volleyball, others for basketball or swimming. In winter some of them go in for skiing. They often take part in different competitions. We have good gyms and playgrounds at the university.

The stuff of professors, lectures and instructors working at the university tries to cultivate noble feelings in the students. They teach them to aspire to a great goal, to love and to know well their job and be ready to devote their energy and knowledge to the service of the people.

Lawyer.

I’m a second year student of Kostanai State University. I study at the Law Faculty. In 2 years graduate from the university and become a professional lawyer. To become a good lawyer one must know much. So at the university we are taught various general and special subjects: Roman Law, Lab our Law, Family Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Law of Procedure, etc.

The profession of a lawyer is quite diversified. The graduates of our faculty can work as investigators, judges, defence counsels, legal consultants. I’d like to be a judge and work at a Court. My friends will work at the Procurator’s office, Police, Legal Aid offices.

I think that now the profession of a lawyer is one of the most important in the law-governed state which we are creating now. Lawyers have to solve many problems that still exist in our society. The duty of lawyers in not only to punish people for various crimes: hooliganism, stealing, murder, traffic violation and so on but they must do their best to prevent crimes, to fight against evil in our society. The lawyers protect the rights and legal interests of citizens institutions and organizations. All the citizens are equal before the law. The defendants are guaranteed the right to defence.

In our country justice is exercised on the principles of equality of citizens before the law and the court, regardless of social position, property of official standing, nationality or race.

Proceedings of all courts are open. All people before the court are presumed innocent, until the court finds them guilty. Only then the sentence is pronounced. An appeal can be made against the ruling to a higher court, up to the Supreme Court.

I like my profession and I’d like to be a good judge.
