Sample Minutes (informal)

A monthly meeting of the Ditto Industries Employee Social Welfare Committee was held at 2:00 PM, April 15, 20…, in Suite 15 of the Administration Building. Attending were Joe Ciao (chair), Ezell Jackson, Loretta Sanchez, Malik Stapleton, and Regina Johnston.

The Committee agreed that we would once again hold a company fundraiser for the Fairview Children's Hospital. Ezell pointed out that last year's campaign, a sale of chocolates, was disappointing. He reported that we only raised $440 for the hospital on sales of $940, and less than half of the employees participated. Regina and Loretta pointed out that selling chocolates may be a poor choice at a time when people seem so diet conscious. We decided to explore new possibilities. Some members suggested that we find a product that would have more sales appeal and would yield higher profits. Suggestions included stationery, coffee mugs, or t-shirts. Others spoke in support of holding a company fundraising event like a picnic or football game. Loretta and Malik agreed to study the alternatives and report back at the next meeting. Joe said he would compile a new list of fundraising captains in each department. He also suggested that we set a minimal fundraising goal of $1,000 this year.

The meeting adjourned at 2:50 PM.

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD 2:00 PM, MAY

Sample Minutes (Formal)

Minutes: Pottstown Parks Citizens Advisory Committee.

July 1,20…, at Town Council Chambers

Present: Terri Malovich, chairperson; Francine Stella, secretary; Boyd Benson, Henry Krizek, Gregory Christakos, John Ocharenko, Janet Miller, Rudolph Perkins, Stanley Kowalski, Ryan Flaherty, Julian Cohen, and Steve Petrus. Also present was Bill Clay, assistant manager of the Pottstown Parks Department.

Approval of the Minutes

Upon reading of the June 3 minutes Boyd Benson observed that his name had been omitted from those in attendance. The minutes were so amended. Julian Cohen moved that the minutes be approved. The motion was seconded and carried.

Greenwood Park Expansion

Bill Clay of the Pottstown Parks Department reported that the Town Council had authorized the purchase of 12 acres to expand Greenwood Park. The Council wants the Citizens Advisory Committee to recommend possible uses for this land. The Parks Department defined several alternatives:

Natural environment area

Recreational fields

Mixed use

Gregory Christakos spoke in favour of keeping the area natural, noting that the site includes extensive woodlands and streams which would make it ideal for trails and rustic picnic areas. John Ocharenko pointed out that the town park system lacks undeveloped land where people can "commune with nature." He also pointed out the need for environmental protection. Francine Stella noted that current recreational facilities are overtaxed, and the youth soccer league has had to turn down applicants because of the lack of playing fields. Chair Terri Malovich suggested the possibility of a mixed-use compromise and requested volunteers for a subcommittee to explore the issue. Francine Stella, John Ocharenko, Julian Cohen, and Janet Miller agreed to serve.

Pottstown Street Fair

Terri Malovich noted that the Pottstown Street Fair will be held on Saturday, June 1, and she recommended that the Citizens Advisory Committee again set up a booth. We would distribute literature, erect displays, and have volunteers available to answer questions. Boyd Benson moved that the chair be authorized to appropriate $50 for a Street Fair booth. The motion was seconded and carried without debate.

Unfinished Business

Ryan Flaherty stated that he has been trying to find new members to join the Committee, but has nothing definite to report. Several people mentioned that they are "interested" but have not yet committed.

New Business

Steve Petrus reported that he has received numerous complaints that the $25 enrollment fee for participation in the Pottstown Summer Football League is excessive. He noted that the fee was especially hard for families who had several members participating. Henry Krizek moved that we ask the Parks Department to send a representative to our August meeting to explain the rates. Tне motion was seconded and carried.

The meeting adjourned at 10:00 PM.

NEXT MEETING: 7:30 PM, AUGUST 2, 20…, AT THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS, MAIN STREET
