Implant-Supported Fixed Partial Denture
Fixed Partial Denture supported by implants are ideally suited for use where there are insufficient numbers of abutment teeth or inadequate strength in abutments to support a conventional fixed partial denture.
A single tooth can be replaced by a single implant saving defect-free adjacent teeth from the destructive effects of crown preparation.
Post-text assignments
Exercise 5. Answer the questions:
What do the majority of patients prefer?
What creates a poor environment for a fixed partial denture?
What does the resin-bonded fixed partial denture require?
What is reserved for patients who are both highly motivated and able to afford this special procedure?
What is the edentulous span if the abutment teeth are periodontally sound?
What can hinder the successful wearing of a removable partial denture?
How can the risk be minimized?
What is reserved for use on defect-free abutments in situations where there is a single missing tooth, usually an incisor or premolar?
Exercise 6. Make the following sentences negative:
The usual configuration for a fixed partial denture utilizes an abutment tooth on each end of the edentulous space.
An absence of moisture in the mouth also will hinder the successful wearing of a removable partial denture.
If the abutment teeth are periodontally sound, the edentulous span is short and straight.
The resin-bonded fixed partial denture requires an abutment both mesial and distal to the edentulous space.
Exercise 7. Find English equivalents for the following word combinations in the text:
Exercise 8. Translate into English.
Exercise 9. Read the passage filling in the missing active words.
