Great Britain.

Great Britain is a federal state. The head of the country is the Queen. But according to the constitution all power belongs to Parliament. The British Parliament consists of the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

The British Isles consist of England and Wales, Scotland, Ireland and many small islands. The West coast is washed by the Atlantic Ocean and the Irish Sea. The East coast is washed by the English Channel.

The climate of Great Britain is mild. Summers are not hot and winters are not very cold. It often rains. It rains in all the seasons of the year. In short, English weather is changeable.

Britain is well-provided with rivers. The chief rivers are: the Clyde, the Tweed, the Severn, the Thames , the Trent, etc. The longest river is the Shannon.

There are many big cities and towns in Britain. Some of them are densely populated. They are: London, Glasgo, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Belfast, etc.
