- How are you getting on?

- Fine, thanks and you?

- I’m fine, too, but I am very busy now, preparing my geography report. I need a computer and the Internet badly. Unfortunately my father is only going to buy it. By the way, do you have a computer at home?

- Yes, I’ve had it for 3 months already, it’s the latest model, and it’s working very fast but I’m afraid to use it often as I know that it is harmful for health. What do you think of it?

- I think you are exaggerating. Perhaps, if you use it very often, it can be dangerous for your eyes, but you can limit the amount of time you spend in front of your computer. But on the whole you have a lot of advantages in comparison with those who don’t have a computer at home. Just think: you can do almost everything with the help of a computer. It’s much easier to edit and print documents; you can find the latest information in the Internet, make new friends with people from all over the world and send letters. Do you agree with me?

- Maybe you are right.

- I’m sorry but will you do me a favor? May I use your computer to complete my report?

- Certainly! I’ll be happy to help you. Would you like to come to my place on Sunday?

Разыграйте с учителем следующую ситуацию. Вы собираетесь в школе подготовить вечер, посвящённый дню города, в котором примут участие ваши зарубежные гости. Посоветуйтесь с учителем, как и когда можно организовать вечер.

- Good morning, Elena Alexeyevna!

- Good morning, Olga!

- How are you getting on?

- Fine, thanks and you?

- I’m fine, too. You know we are going to prepare a school party dedicated to the day of our town. Our foreign friends are going to take part in it. I’d like to ask you for advice. Will you help me?

- Certainly! What would you like to ask me?

- How can we organize our party?

- Why not invite honorary citizens of our town and ask them to share their reminiscences. Our schoolchildren could recite poems by our poets and sing songs by our composers. One of our students can play a part of an interpreter. What do you think of it?

- Sounds interesting. And when will it be better to hold a party?

- As we celebrate the day of our town in summer it will be better to hold the party in May before your summer holidays. So both the students and your guests will have learned some information on this subject by July and will have taken this holiday with greater interest.

- Thank you for your advice. I think we’ll start preparing for the party right now.

- You are welcome. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

- Hello, is this Tom? This is Olga calling from Russia.

- Speaking. Hi, Olga! How are you?

- Fine, thanks and you?

- I’m fine too. How is your family?

- They are fine, too. You see, I’m going to visit England in October and stay there for a week. I’m calling you about the weather there.

- Oh, great! I’ll be glad to see you soon. As far as the weather is concerned it is usually rainy and not too cold.

- I hear the weather changes very often on the British Isles. Is it true?

- Oh, yes! Britain’s climate is very changeable. There is a saying that Britain doesn’t have a climate, it only has weather. But English weather is never the same two days running. One day it rains, the next day it may be sunny and then it may be cold again.

- I see and it’s a problem for me what clothes to take to England. Could you give me a piece of advice?

- Yes, sure. I suppose you’d better take a raincoat or a jacket, a sweater, jeans and T-shirts. Don’t forget to take an umbrella with you.
