Разыграйте с учителем следующую ситуацию. Вы хотите пойти на курсы иностранного языка. Ваш друг считает, что не нужно учить иностранные языки, так как это требует много времени и усилий, в то время как всегда можно прибегнуть к услугам переводчика. Вы с ним не согласны. Приведите не менее двух причин, почему необходимо изучать иностранные языки.

- Hello, Dima!

- Hello, Olga!

- How are you getting on?

- Fine, thanks and you?

- I’m fine, too. I say, Dima!

- Yes, please.

- You know I want to join the English language courses. How do you like this idea?

- You see, I can’t say that I’m in favour of this idea. Learning foreign languages is a long and slow process, which requires time and efforts. Besides, nowadays you can translate any conversation or any text with the help of an interpreter or a translator. There are plenty of electronic dictionaries nowadays. Why should you waste time and money?

- There is something in what you’ve said, but if you know a foreign language you will have some advantages. For example, both of us will be students soon. Perhaps, we’ll need English because our course of studies may include textbooks available only in English. Moreover, I need English in order to be able to use the Internet, communicate with people in other countries, understand films and songs.

- Maybe you are right. Probably I’ll think about it once again and join the English language courses as well.

- O. K. I’ll be glad if we do it together. I’ll be waiting for your call. Good-bye.

Разыграйте с учителем следующую ситуацию. Возьмите интервью у популярного зарубежного певца. Расспросите его, когда он начал свою карьеру, почему он выбрал этот вид искусства, каковы его планы на будущее.

- Good morning, John!

- Morning!

- May I ask you some questions concerning your career and your plans for the future?

- Yes, please.

- As far as I know you are quite a popular singer in England. Can you possibly start from your early days…. How did it all start? Why did you decide to connect your life with music?

- You know it started long ago. My passion for music began with the Beatles. I wanted to sing and play the guitar like them. So I asked my parents to buy me a guitar.

- Do you have any musical education?

- First I played my guitar by ear, singing the Beatles’ songs and it wasn’t bad, but then I realized that it would be better if I got some musical education. And it really did. I entered a music school and soon both my guitar and my voice began to sound better. I even developed my own style in singing.

- But after finishing your music school… Did you get any help from professional musicians?

- An old friend of mine introduced me to a very popular producer and helped me to record my first song.

- You are lucky, aren’t you?

- Yes, to some extent.

- And a traditional question… What about your plans for the future?

- Well, I am planning to record my new album, and I’m working hard at it. It is called “Don’t give up.”
