Applied grammar

Task 14. Give the plural (A) and singular (B) of the following nouns (if they have plural or singular forms) and translate them into Ukrainian. Use a dictionary if necessary:

  1. Management, advertisement, company, consumption, productivity, profit, rhythm, promotion, credibility, audience, information, market, possession, planning, soundtrack, value, proud, manager, market share, progress, comfort, competition, sensibility, screen, felt-pen, time-table, zero, ratio, labour, people.

  1. Cash, goods, labels, stores, launches, shareholders, factories, circumstan­ces, electronics, matches, reports, consumers, manufacturers, responsibili­ties, notes, brands, organisations, news, graphs, cargoes.

Task 15. Put the verbs in brackets in Present Simple:

1. Great managers (not/act) like dictators. 2. The manager (help) to focus all the resources of the firm. 3. Task 16. Ask your manager questions about him/her and his/her work:

You want to know if this is really so. 8. You know that he has some interesting books on management. You want to know what books. 9. You do not know how to fulfil the task. You want to know. 10. Your boss plans to go on a business trip. You want to know when.

Task 17. Imagine that you work in a company. Yesterday was a typical day of your manager.

  1. Write what he/she did and what he/she didn’t do yesterday:
