3. Translate the text: At the Hotel
When travelling people almost always have to stay at a hotel.
In London there are a lot of big and small, expensive and cheap hotels. On arrival at a hotel visitors go to the reception desk in the vestibule and ask for a room. Of course, it is better to book a room in advance by letter or by telegram.
If there are free rooms in the hotel, the receptionist will ask the visitors to fill in a registration form. The visitors fill in the form in block letters, sign the form and give it back to the clerk with the passports. The clerk registers the passports in the book, tells the floor and the number of the room to the visitors.
Then the chambermaid shows the visitors their rooms and the porter brings their bags and suitcases.
If you сomе to England on a business trip, it is necessary to register yourself at the Embassy in London.
In some hotels you must рaу the bill in advance, in others you may pay when you leave the hotel.

Dialogue 1:
A: Are there many hotels in London?
B: Yes, quite a lot. There are a lot of big and small, expensive and cheap hotels in London.
A: Where do visitors go when they arrive at a hotel?
B: First of all they go to the reception desk. Of course, it is better to book a room in advance by letter or by telegram. But if there are free rooms in the hotel, the receptionist will give you a registration form. The visitors must fill in the form in block letters.
A: And what must they fill in the form?
B: The same sings as in the airport: they must give their names in full, country of residence, permanent address, purpose and length of the visit. Then they must sign the form and give it back to the receptionist with their passports.
A; And what does the clerk do?
B: He registers your passport in the book, tells your the floor and the number of your room and gives you the key from your room.
A: And who shows the rooms to the visitors?
B: Usually a chambermaid does. And a porter brings your bags and suitcases to the room.
A: Is it necessary to register oneself anywhere else?
B: Yes, it is. If you come to England on a business trip, you must register yourself at the Embassy in London.
A: When must you pay the bill for staying at the hotel?
B: In some hotels you must pay in advance, in others — when you leave the hotel.
Dialogue 2:
Good morning, is this the Dnipro Hotel?
Yes, sir, this is the Dnipro, what can I do?
I’m from Ukraine, from Kiev; we’ve got a reservation on two rooms.
Just a moment. I’ll have a look in the register. Yes, you’ve got a reservation: one single room and one double. It’s for three people, am I right?
Yes you are. And how much is the single room?
A single room with a bathroom, a telephone, and a TV-set is 15dollars a day.
Oh, it’s too expensive for us. And do you have anything cheaper?
Well, and then take a room for three persons. It is a nice and quiet room on the second floor and it costs 7 dollars a day.
Ok. That is good. Should we pay now or when we depart?
Fill in the blank, please. I shall give you the bill when you leave.
Here is the blank. Is everything all right?
Yes, it is. Here are your keys.
What’s time to breakfast, by the way?
Any time between 7 and 10 downstairs in the restaurant. There are coffee-stalls and snack bars on every floor of the hotel.
Can I have breakfast in my room?
No problem. You can order it by phone. Lunch is from 11 till 1.30, tea at about 5 and dinner at 6 or 7.
Where can I buy stamps and envelopes?
The news-stand is right in front of you.
Oh, that’s fine, thanks. What other facilities are there in the hotel?
There’s barber’s and a hairdresser’s shops, a foreign currency bank, a post-office, a dry-cleaner’s, a shoe-repair shop and a laundry. All of them are on the ground floor.
Thank you. Who helps me with my luggage?
The porter brings your bags and suitcases to your room. Come here, please.
Thanks.
Don’t mention, please.
