4.4.The theme choice
The themes of the course works are proposed by the teacher. They are looked through and approved at the department meeting annually. Besides theoretical problems the theme can include additional practical tasks which must be carried out while writing the course work.
During the first two weeks of studying a teacher-lecturer presents the order and conditions of the course work development for the students, assigns the themes of the course works to the students. The teacher assigns the themes also to those students who are absent at the lesson at this moment and charges a leader of the academic group with the mission to pass the corresponding information to the absent students. Further the teacher has to control if the students got the themes of their course works.
According to the student’s initiative and teacher’s agreement, the theme of the student’s course work can be changed into the other one (from the teacher’s list if there are free themes or by the way of certain corrections made in the got theme formulation).
What must one follow to while choosing the theme of the course work?
First of all, a student must be guided by the extent of his own interest in this or that economic problem learning. Secondly, as one part of students combines the studying with the work at the industrial enterprises, organizations or institutions, then it will be logical to choose the theme which is related to the fulfillment of the production functions to a certain extent, and specific features of the industrial enterprise operation (organization or institution).
4.4. Choosing of necessary literature and looking through it
After choosing the theme of the course work it is necessary to draw a draft of the work. The main problems to be considered in the work must be planned. To draw the right plan it is necessary to understand clearly the main issues of the problem.
It is necessary to research information related to the chosen theme.
Begin from the basic textbook on “Economics: bases of economic science”. Examine the way the chosen problem is researched in it. Then learn the profound course of “Economics: bases of economic science” in which the corresponding problem is elucidated more deeply. Then choose the literature devoted to the problem you are interested in. books, brochures, articles from newspapers of journals can be used. Be very attentive to the newspaper and journal articles: a lot of them are of publicist character; their authors often are not scientifically strict and have no accuracy and satisfactory level of competence. That’s why, pay attention to their authors’ professional status.
To choose literature you may use the service of the university, regional, and local library. Use the thematic catalogues held in the libraries.
At this stage of the work with literature one must not go deep into details of different issues related to that problem. You should only determine the issues themselves which must be necessarily elucidated in the course work.
4.5. Drawing the plan
The plan of the course work must contain the following elements:
