Mr. Black had to go to London from New York. He had to see a factory there and buy some machines. When he said goodbye, he told his sister, "I'll send you a telegram from London with my address."

"Yes," his sister said. “And write me letters too. You'll see many new places and people. I want you to write me about everything.”

He came to London late on Saturday night and went to a hotel. The next morning he got up early. After breakfast he remembered that he had to send his sister a telegram. So he sent the telegram with the address of the hotel, and then made his plans for the day.

"Today is Sunday," Mr. Black thought, "The director won't be in his factory today. So I won't go there. I'll go to the London Museum, and then I'll go for a long walk in the old London streets."

He went to the museum by bus and then he began to walk. It was very interesting to walk in the old streets of London and look at the old buildings. He walked and walked, and soon he lost his way.

At four o'clock it began to rain. Mr. Black was very tired, and he only wanted to go to his hotel and rest. But, he could not remember the name or the address of the hotel. He thought and thought, and then he had an idea.

"I don't remember my address here," he thought. "But I remember my address in New York!"

So he sent his sister this telegram: “Please send me my London address”.

Norman Gortsby sat on a bench in the park. It was 7 o’clock and it was almost dark.

There was an old man in a brown coat on the bench near him. Some minutes later he left and soon after that a young man sat down on the bench. He said: "Today I've made the worst mistake in my life."

"Yes?" said Gortsby.

"I came to London this morning. It's my first visit to this city. When I checked in at the hotel I went out to buy a cake of soap, as I don't like the hotel soap. When I decided to come back to the hotel I couldn't remember its name or the name of the street it is in. I'm afraid I'll spend the night in the park, as I have no money and no friends in London. Do you find my story impossible?" asked the young man.

"I don't find your story impossible but I don't think that you can show me the soap", said Gortsby.

The young man began looking for the soap in his coat. "I've lost it", he said in a moment. "It's too much to lose a hotel and a cake of soap on one afternoon", said Gortsby.

The young man did not say a word and left.

A few minutes later Gortsby saw a small white parcel near the bench. It was a cake of soap. Gortsby went to look for the young man. He saw him at the traffic lights.

"I'm sorry I didn't believe you. Here is some money and your cake of soap. Don't lose it again", said Gortsby.

The young man thanked Gortsby and said "Good-bye".

When Gortsby came back to the bench he saw the old man in the brown coat near that bench.

"What are you looking for?" Gortsby asked him.

“I've lost a cake of soap.”
