Therefore your Department is planning to install hidden video cameras around the plant to enable you to watch these workers at all times.

Discuss the possibility of such measures with the representative of the workers of your plant. Give your reasons for such actions of the authorities.

You work at a big automobile plant. Your authority thinks that workers of your plant waste a lot of time, standing and talking to friends instead of working. Therefore they decided to install hidden video cameras to watch you at all times. Many employees feel that being videotaped places severe stress on them, which can produce health problems.

You are the representative of a group of workers. Discuss the possibility of such measures with the representative of the authorities of your plant. Give your reasons against such actions of the authorities.

Card 2. A

You are the director of a company. You have known that one of your employees was caught shoplifting last week on a local department store. You are going find out everything about the case and decide to fire this employee or give him another chance.

Talk to this worker and make a decision.

Card 2. B

You were caught shoplifting at a local department store. The information was about it was sent to your boss. You are afraid of being fired.

Talk to your boss, try to persuade him that you didn’t do it intentionally; you just were thinking about new deal with the partners of your company and forgot to pay for your purchase.

Card 3. A

You are a lawyer at a publishing house. Your company is going to publish a book by a physician; this book gives detailed instructions on how to commit suicide or how to help someone else commit suicide. Your boss thinks that this book will be a best seller.

Talk to your boss and tell him your reasons why your company shouldn’t publish and sell such a book.

Card 3. B

You are the director of a publishing house. You were presented handwriting of a book, which gives detailed instructions on how to commit suicide or how to help someone else commit suicide. You decided to publish it, because you think that this book will be a bestseller and you’ll earn much money selling it. But your lawyer is against publishing such a book.

Talk to your lawyer and try to persuade him that such a publication isn’t harmful but profitable.

Card 4. A

You are a deliveryman in Pizza house. Last night two men tried to rob you. But you pulled out an unloaded gun to scare them and they ran off. Your boss found out about this accident and today he decided to fire you. He says that you knowingly violated company policy in two ways. First, you were carrying a gun and second, you didn’t cooperate with the robbers, both actions completely against company policy.

Talk to your boss and try to persuade him not to fire you.
