- Read the following abstract and say what sanitation is ?
The word “sanitation” comes from Latin word “sanitas” meaning health. It is the science of how to preserve the public health. We say it is sanitary when our premises are clean and free from flies and mosquitoes as well as from rats and mice. It is sanitary when the air we breathe is free from dust and odours. It is sanitary when our milk and water supplies and pure. Therefore, it is insanitary to live among insects, dirt and germs and to drink impure water and unclean milk. To allow germs to spread abroad from the persons who are ill is also insanitary.
