We use the present simple to talk about habits and daily routines. We use this tense with every day, usually, often, on Sundays, etc.
Tom plays tennis every Saturday. |
We use the present continuous for actions happening now, at the moment of speaking. We use this tense with now, at present and at the moment.
“Where is Tom?” – “He is playing tennis now.” |
