1. The purpose of lecture is to consider a subject, purpose, tasks both methods of the "Theory Fundamentals of the Information Transmission" (TFIT), history of development of this science, to give the recommendations to the students on independent study of this educational discipline.

1. Organization of joint work.

1.1. Acquaintance. The introduction lecture begins traditionally with acquaintance. As you have understood from the time-table of lessons, my name is Ignatov Volodymyr Oleksiyovich. I am a Professor of telecommunication systems department. I shall lecture to you on discipline " Theory Fundamentals of the Information Transmission". In abbreviated form this discipline usually has name: TFIT.

Taking into account that of the students, which are training in English, while it is a little, I can afford to get acquainted and to work with each of you personally. For this purpose we shall lead with you a short interview. Each of you, by way of following your surnames under the alphabet, will answer on three questions. They are important for successful organization of our joint work.

The first question obvious: " How are your surname and name? "

The second is professional question: " Why did you chose specialty: "Radio electronic devices, systems and complexes"?

The third question also is professional question, but it to concern, how is deeply you are going to plunge into study TFIT. Would you like to accept participation in scientific researches on TFIT?

On your answers I can make necessary general representations how better to construct materials of lectures and practical lessons for your group.

Besides to take into account a circle of your interests, I would ask you to express yours attitude to lectures from the offered List of basal lectures on TFIT. For this purpose at the end of lecture you will receive the Form of personal examination (see. The appendix 1).

The importance of lectures is convenient to estimate in points. The maximal importance in 100 points you should give of that lecture, which will seem to you by most interesting. The minimal importance in 0,00 points you will give to that lecture, which is not interesting for you. List of lectures will be on your examination during a week. The filled forms of examination you will hand over to me through your chief of group. Today's introductory lecture and preliminary acquaintance with the contents of lectures on the recommended literature [1,2] will help you to make the examination. Today's introductory lecture will give you preliminary knowledge of the contents of other lectures in the integrated form.

By results of examination it will be made " diagram of your group’s interest ", which will be used by the teachers for development of the contents and form of learning, their methodical maintenance, hardware and software, organization of practical learning on discipline in view of your professional interests.

At once I would like to underline that the examination is not directed at the check up of your knowledge at the previous disciplines. Though such examination, is especial at the discipline "Computer science", as you understand, too is useful. The examination fulfilled by us is intended only for registry of professional interests of the students and promotes an individualization and differentiation of the plans of training. Therefore you can safely sign an expert sheet and not worry about possible adverse consequences. This sheet you will receive from the chief of your group.

1.2. Characteristic of the program of discipline and requirements of the educational qualification characteristic of the bachelor to knowledge and skills on the "Theory Fundamentals of the Information Transmission" (TFIT).

The TFIT program as program of the obligatory discipline for the bachelors of the specialty 8.090702 "Radio electronic devices, systems and complexes" according to the requirements of the educational qualification characteristic is designed for 118 academic hours of its study by each student in one 17 weeks semester. This volume of educational time includes 34 hours of lectures, 17 hours of laboratory and practical lessons, 67 hours of independent work of each student. From here follows, that once per one week we shall meet at lecture and once per two weeks we shall meet at practical or laboratory works.

The educational discipline "Theory Fundamentals of the Information Transmission" (TFIT) is one of obligatory disciplines, which form the theoretical base to development of engineering methods of designing and successful using of information systems and complexes in practice.

The ТFIT purpose as the scientific discipline is to develop the common theoretical principles, methods and algorithms for the statistical analysis, synthesis and optimisation of information engineering’s objects, which are various at theirs assignments.

Main objective of study "Theory Fundamentals of the Information Transmission" as the educational discipline is acquisition by the students of knowledge and skills for practical application of already open theoretical principles, methods and algorithms for calculations of parameters of quality and efficiency of information systems for known structures and parameters (analysis), and also definition of structure and parameters of these systems, including optimum meanings, for the given requirements to their quality and efficiency (synthesis).

The tasks of study of discipline have been determined by the requirements to preparation of the experts established by educational qualification characteristic for specialty8.090702 "Radio electronic devices, systems and complexes".

As a result of study of discipline the students should be able [1]:

  • To create mathematical models of the messages, signals and channels of communication;

  • To use adequate methods of management of information parameters of signals - carriers;

  • To calculate the information characteristics of sources of the messages and channels of communication;

  • To choose noise proof methods of transmission and processing of the information, which correspond to conditions of work of systems;

  • To use methods of the Effective, Error-Correcting and Cryptography coding for maintenance of required parameters of parameters of quality of information systems;

  • To use modern methods of transmission and distribution of the information in networks of communication (condensation, switching);

  • To be guided in directions and regularities of development of information technologies and prospects of their use in radio electronic devices, systems and complexes;

  • To work with the scientific and technical literature, designing and operational documentation, which regulates use of information technologies and objects of information engineering.

The successful work above discipline provides knowledge of a material of the previous disciplines: "The highest mathematics", "Physics", "Computer science", "Bases of the theory of circuits, signals and processes", "Bases of analogy-digital circuitry", "Digital devices and microprocessors", "Devices of formatting and generating of signals", "Devices of receiving and processing of signals".

In turn, this discipline forms the basis for study of the majority of the subsequent special disciplines.

The thematic plan and plan of the independent work, which are recommended to the students, shown in tab. 1,2 [2]. The recommended distribution of volumes on the themes is shown in tab. 1. Contents, distribution of volumes of the independent works, the kinds of checking of results in semester’s weeks is shown in tab. 2.

You should execute calculation graphical work on the individual task.

1.4. The order of realization of lessons, consultations and examination. The order of realization of lessons is defined by the time-table, which is authorized by the university’s Rector. Any modification in the time-table should be coordinated with the faculty’s Dean. The consultations for you will be carried out on the first week’s Wednesdays at fourth pair in audience 3.227.

The examination according to the time-table will be fulfilled in writing at the end of a semester. The individual test includes three theoretical questions and two tasks. The answer should contain approximately 4 pages with illustrations of a theoretical part and 2 pages of a material with the decision of tasks. The results of examination will have range estimations in 12 balls’ system. We will make everything to pay attention on the importance of the test questions and tasks. Examination will be continuing two pair of educational time with one break between pairs during 15 minutes. The prescheduled passing of the examination under condition of fulfilment of all educational plan requirements is possible. The preliminary results of examination will inform the next day. One appeal and interview by results of examination is supposed. In case of disagreement with results of consideration of the appeal the third control of knowledge is carried out by a commission from three teachers, which is nominated by the Department Chief. The commission is obliged to finish the work not later end of the next educational day. The results of examination will be included into the sheet of bachelor’s disciplines. They will be taken into account in subsequent, in particular at competitive selection for training in magistracy by the state order.

Have you any questions? Questions are absent. Then we begin joint work in essence.

2.The TFIT subject

The TFIT subject is common regularities as relationships of cause and effect, which on today are already well investigated for the following processes: revealing, formation and coding of the messages of information sources; various intermediate transformations of the information and signals, information transmission in space and in time; information processing by a receivers of information systems; maintenance of the addressee by confidential information for business; information counteraction in conflicted situations; protection of the information and infrastructure from the non-authorized access.

3. Basal terminological and conceptual device

The basal terminological and conceptual device consist of the following terms and concepts: the information, information technology (procedure), information culture, object of information engineering; the information system, the message, coding, signal, modulation, noise (interference), communication line, channel of communication, error at message transmission, distortion of signals, criteria of quality and efficiency of information systems.

Let's give with the brief comments, definitions of these concepts how they will be used in the subsequent statement of TFIT principles, methods and algorithms.

The information is intensively developing concept. A social phenomenon, which in process of his research and understanding by mankind occupies a more and more high place in system of universal values. The information changes in space and in time. It reflects the certain public attitudes and carries out normalized and estimated function of public consciousness. The information reflects variety of properties and condition of objects of the real world. This reflection is more and more opened as the objects are involved in sphere of public life and become carriers of the social attitudes(relations) - mutual relation between the people.

The information as the form of consciousness not only reflects the phenomena of the validity, but also serves their estimation. Therefore under the contents the information frequently appears normative (estimated), - is inducing the certain social norms. The system of values of any person, any collective, socium, and today and world (global) civilization as a whole, is defined by directions of development, contents and form of creation, tax, transfer and processing of the information. This system is closely connected to needs and interests, purposes and ideals of ability to live, therefore information in many respects defines(determines) a level of mental health and social maturity of each person, each collective, socium and society(community) as a whole.

The information together with power and material resources forms a base triad of necessary resources of public development.

In management the information plays a role of the factor, which determines a purpose selection. Without the collecting, processing and transformation of the information, without comprehension, getting of experience and the understanding occurring impossible duly correcting of selected purpose. Absence, incompleteness or distortions of the information are resulting with distortion of the validity, loss of management, delay of rates of public development. The collecting, transfer, transformation, processing of the information and other information procedures precede acceptance of any decisions, therefore at the present stage of development of a civilization the large attention is given to development of the perfect information technologies, to the increasing of information culture of a society.

Above saying emphasizes importance and necessity of exact definition of concept "information" how for some universal (philosophical) category. On today there are more than hundred "of correct definitions" of this concept. Each of which is intended to reflect to the full interests of the subjects, which enter it for those or other practical applications. If there is this or that definition of concept, which can satisfy interests everything, it becomes "conventional". All trouble that, in - first, the interests of the people seldom completely coincide - "how many people and so much opinions", and in - second, there is a Gedel theorem that within the framework of one language there is no opportunity precisely to define concept. For this reasons any definition of concept is a question of the agreement those who use it [3]. In it, as a rule, there use already established concepts and in that sense, as it is accepted by the agreement.

Proceeding from these preliminary reasons, we shall define so concept the information.

The information is a set of random primary data (of facts) about variety of spatial - temporary states of the objects of real world (people, events, processes, phenomena etc), which a subject is choosing as essential (important) for satisfaction of his interests and which consider in aspect of their transmission in space and in time.

From the philosophical point of view " the information is acting as property of objects to create multitude of states, which by means of reflection are transferring from one object to another... " [4]. " If in one subject there are changes reflecting influence of other subject, it is possible to tell, that the first subject becomes the carrier of the information about the second subject " [5].
