AT THE ENGLISH LESSON

At the English Lesson

We study at the institute. We are in the classroom. We are at the English lesson. Our classroom is large and light. There are two windows and a door. There is a blackboard on the wall. There isn’t a clock. There are a lot of tables and chairs in the classroom. There are books, notebooks and pens on the tables. The bags aren’t on the tables. They are under tables. There are fifteen students in our group.

Each student has a book, a notebook and a pen for the lesson. During the lesson the students learn new words and expressions. They read and translate texts and do a lot of exercises. They ask different questions to the texts and retell them. The students write grammar rules in their notebooks. Sometimes they have dictations and tests. The tutor teaches the students to speak English correctly, to ask and answer questions. At the end of the lesson the tutor gives the students the task for the next lesson.

Ex.1 Remember the classroom expressions:

I am sorry. I am late. May I come in? May I take my seat? May I go out? May I ask you a question? Let me help you with the table / books. What is the English for “род войск”? I don’t know how to say “служба” in English. Shall I go to the blackboard? Shall I read / translate the sentence? Shall I render / retell the text? Shall I answer / ask the question? Please help me. Please, will you repeat the question? I don’t understand my mistake. Just a moment, please. Let me see / think. Is it my turn to read? Repeat the word. Do exercise 5 at page ten. Write this sentence in an affirmative / negative / interrogative form. Write out the new words from the text. Learn dialogue №3. Make up your own dialogue.
