A story about Franz List.
Franz List was a famous composer and a pianist. But List was not only a great musician, he was also a very kind man who often helped people.
This story shows how kind he was. There was a young girl – pianist in a small French town. She had talent, but she was unknown and poor. She lived with her mother and two little brothers.
One cold rainy day her little brother got wet to the bones. The boy fell seriously ill. As there was no money in the house, a doctor could not be called and the boy was getting worse and worse. Then the young pianist said to herself: “I shall tell the people, that Franz List was my teacher. That will attract them to my concerts.” And so she did. The people believed her; they came to her concerts and she was a success. The girl was happy, she was able to help her brother. But one day when she was looking through the newspaper , she read that Franz List was coming to their town to give a concert. “What shall I do”, cried the girl. “He will tell the people that he doesn’t know me and will laugh at me.” Then the girl decided to go to see the great musician and tell him everything. So said so done. List looked at her, smiled and said: “Here is a piano, please, play for me.” The girl sat down at the piano and began to play. List listened to her and made some remarks.
Then he said: “I am glad that you are talented, tomorrow I shall come to your concert and tell the people, that you are my pupil. I gave you a lesson today.”
