  1. Прочитати та перекласти текст: TRAVELER’S CHECKS AND BANK CARDS

What is the best way to carry money safely while you are traveling? There are three possibilities: personal checks from you country, traveler’s checks and credit cards. Some American banks accept foreign checks such as Eurocheques; the problem is that only banks that are used you to dealing with foreigners will know what Eurocheques are.

It may be more convenient to carry traveler’s checks, which are insured against loss. They should be in dollars, because only a few banks do much business in foreign currencies. If your checks are not in dollars, it may take a long time to find a bank that will exchange them.

You can use traveler’s checks as hard currency almost anywhere – in restaurants, shops, or ticket offices – without having to go to a bank. If you are run out of them, you can buy more at most banks. Their service charge will vary, though, so ask what it is before you buy your checks. Besides, the main clearing banks, good places to change traveler’s checks, are Thomas Cook, some offices, such as American Express, or the bank-operated check-points.

Americans would say that the best way to carry money is to have a major credit card like Visa, Master Card or American Express due to the wide availability of cash machines. Credit cards can be canceled if they are stolen or lost. And because they are widely accepted in the USA, it is easy to use them to pay for lodging, transportation, meals and things you want to buy from larger stores.

Of course, you can’t get along without cash, but you don’t need to carry much with you.

  1. Прочитати та перекласти текст: PRICING AND ROOM RATES

It is clear that some clarification of our policy on pricing and room rates is needed.

Basic Rates

We have a basic rate for all room types. However, it is common for different rates to be charged. This is because the Sales and Marketing Department negotiates special rates for different agents, corporate clients, and other clients.

The Basic Rates are: Standard room – £80.00 (double), Luxury / Executive Plus – £115.00 (double), Suite – individually priced.

Standard discounts

Weekend rate (Fri / Sat or Sat / Sun): 15% discount;

Weekly rate: seven nights for the price of five.

Specially-negotiated rates

Most guests come as part of a tour, through a tour operator, or as a corporate guest. In this case a special rate will have been negotiated and will be on the computer for Reservations and the Front Officer to access.

Free Sale Agents

Free Sale Agents are sent availability charts every two weeks. They sell rooms at an agreed rate (usually the corporate rate). They don’t have to check with us, so administration costs are kept low.

Allocation Holders

Allocation Holders have a certain number of rooms which they agree to sell (usually at FIT rates). The customer pays them directly and they take commission and pass on what is left to the hotel.

For weekends they have the room on a 48-hour release (in other words the hotel can take them back by Thursday and resell).

If you have any more questions, please speak to the Reservations Manager or the Sales and Marketing Department.
