Operating a computer is easy
|
− Windows XP is easy to use. Though my friends prefer Vista. − I do too, but, actually, doing things with Mac OS is far more fun. − I bet it is! Can you show me how to find files on your MacBook? In the Windows when in the folder you just need to press Ctrl+F and you’ll see the search dialogue on the left. − It’s a bit different on Mac. Let me show you. Here you can use Spotlight to quickly find files − so fast that your search results start appearing while you're still typing! − Hey, that is easy! And if I need extended search I press Apple key plus F key and it goes! − Yep. Now you choose the settings and then press the Enter button.
|
Windows buttons
− Each window has three buttons on the right side of the strip at the top. − What do they do? − The one on the right closes the window, the middle one maximizes, and the one on the left minimizes. − Look, the middle one changed when I clicked on it. − That's right. Now it's called the restore button.
Activity: Windows in Windows
Look at a typical window and fill in the boxes with the corresponding English names:
Extend your knowledge
1. Never turn off a computer without shutting down Windows first. A quick way to get to the Start Menu is by hitting Ctrl + Esc. 2. If an application stops working try holding down the Ctrl, Alt and Delete keys at the same time. This will bring up the Close Program dialogue box and allow you to stop the program that doesn't work. 3. Don’t overload your desktop with folders and shortcuts. Try to keep it as clear and simple as possible. Don’t use wallpapers on your desktop.
5. Try to store important files somewhere different from My Documents folder.
