4.6Locate Phone via Website (Pri: Hi)

  1. Owner navigates to and logs in to the LPF Website.

  2. Owner activates the LPF service as described in an earlier use case.

  3. User selects “Locate My Phone”.

  4. LPF Server sends a “Locate” message to the LPF Handset App.

  5. If the LPF Server successfully contacts and activates the LPF Handset App, then:

    1. The Website displays a progress indication stating that the phone is turned on and being located.

    2. The Website displays on a panable/zoomable hybrid (aerial + roadway) map the phone’s:

      1. GPS location with uncertainty halo,

      2. Name of nearest street address or smallest enclosing polygon.

      3. Speed

      4. Direction (North, South, Northwest, etc.)

      5. Battery Charge Status – every locate returns the phone’s battery status.

  6. If the LPF Server detects that the phone is turned off or out-of-coverage (by using the SMSC “transaction mode” interface, as is done with Chaperone,) then:

    1. The user gets immediate feedback that the phone is turned off or out of coverage.

  7. The Website re-displays the “Help Me Find My Phone” options.

4.7Ring Phone via Website (Pri: Hi)

The Owner may use the LPF to ring the phone at maximum volume without activating the service (i.e. putting phone into “Lost” mode.)

  1. Owner navigates to and logs in to the LPF Website.

  2. Owner activates the LPF service as described in an earlier use case.

  3. User selects “Ring My Phone”.

  4. LPF Server sends a “Ring” message to the LPF Handset App.

  5. If the LPF Server successfully contacts and activates the LPF Handset App, then:

    1. The Website displays a progress indication stating that the phone is turned on and being rung.

  6. If the LPF Server detects that the phone is turned off or out-of-coverage (by using the SMSC “transaction mode” interface, as is done with Chaperone,) then the user gets immediate feedback that the phone is turned off or out of coverage.

  7. The Website re-displays the “Help Me Find My Phone” options (without hiding or losing the map.) At this point, the “Lock and Locate My Phone” option is grayed out, and the “Ring My Phone”, “Locate My Phone”, and other options are enabled as appropriate.

4.8Erase Personal Data via Website (Pri: Med)

The Owner may use the LPF Website to erase all personal data on the phone. This may require that the data was successfully backed up when the LPF service was activated.

  1. Owner navigates to and logs in to the LPF Website.

  2. Owner activates the LPF service as described in an earlier use case.

  3. User selects “Erase My Personal Data”.

  4. LPF Server sends an “Erase Data” message to the LPF Handset App.

  5. If the LPF Server successfully contacts and activates the LPF Handset App, then:

    1. The display indicates that the erase process is beginning.

  6. If the LPF Server detects that the phone is turned off or out-of-coverage (by using the SMSC “transaction mode” interface, as is done with Chaperone,) then the Owner gets immediate feedback that the phone is turned off or out of coverage, and that the erase operation will be executed when the phone is next turned on.

  7. The LPF Website confirms that the erase operation has completed.

  8. The Website re-displays the “Help Me Find My Phone” options (without hiding or losing the map.) At this point, the “Lock and Locate My Phone” and “Erase my personal data” options are grayed out, and the “Ring My Phone”, “Locate My Phone”, and other options are enabled as appropriate.
