Cutty sark tall ship race
History of tall ship's races began in the middle of the nineteenth century when private clippers had been competing in velocity while transporting tea from China and India through the Indian and the Atlantic Oceans to Great Britain. The Tall ship that arrived first got possibility to appoint prices on this commodity. The route from Australia to Great Britain transporting wool became the second route for competition on wool prices.
Tea clipper "Cutty Sark" was built in 1869 in Scotland has got its Scottish name after swift-footed witch Nanny from the poem written by Robert Burns. In its turn the fastest clipper gave her name to the annual maritime festival. Nanny's figure stood in beauty on ship's bow. "Cutty Sark" came back to the Thames banks in 1954. The Queen of the United Kingdom opened museum of sailing fleet on board "Cutty Sark" in 1957 sail Training Association (STA) was established in Great Britain in 1955. The »first international Tall Ships Race was held in summer 1956 on route between Lisbon and Thorbay. Although the ISTA is run along the lines of a normal business it is in fact a registered charity with HRH the Prince Philips of Edinburgh as its Patron.
Sailing on board of tall ships gives unforgettable experience of the trials and triumphs of life at sea. One of the most stimulating things about life at sea is the sheer unpredictability of the vast might of the ocean. At any moment all hands may be needed on deck in response to a gale. Alternatively, a calm day, will bring the chance to relax and reflect. For young people it is necessary to testify themselves in teamwork, in self-discipline, in leadership and decision — making skills. Everyone on board an STA Schooner is reassuringly under the expert guidance of a Master, Chief Officer, Boatswain, Engineer, experienced watch officers, cook, a purser.

HM Customs and Excise is the first and foremost, a revenue - gathering Organisation. The contemporary outfield staff work at ports, airports and inland offices within 21 defined regions called Collections. Collection offices range from large offices to isolated posts at distilleries, oil storage depots, small ports and airports.
