Abstract: An assessment of the state of honey-bearing resources at the educational apiary of the Velikiye Luki State Agricultural Academy of the Pskov region is presented. The possible honey harvest is 3398.13 kg. This makes it possible to have 25 bee colonies in the apiary, which opens up prospects for its expansion.

Abstract: The yield of commercial honey has been studied depending on the strength of the bee family in the educational apiary of the Velikiye Luki State Agricultural Academy and the economic efficiency of using bee families of different strength has been calculated. The yield of commercial honey varies markedly in bee colonies of different strength: in strong families, the average yield of honey from one family averaged 16 kg, and from weak families – only 5 kg. The greatest profit was received from the strong families. It amounted to: from strong families – 6688 rubles, from average families – 1140 rubles, from weak families – 190 rubles; per bee family – 608 rubles, 380 rubles and 190 rubles, respectively.
