5. Практические занятия по курсу Seminar 1. The Categorial Structure of the Word Plan
1. The basic notions concerned with the analysis of the categorial structure of the word:
- grammatical category
- grammatical form
- grammatical function
- grammatical opposition
- grammatical paradigm
- grammatical meaning and means of its expression
2. The theory of oppositions, types of oppositions: oppositions in morphology (gradual, binary, equipollent, tertiary, etc.)
3. The oppositional reduction. Types of the oppositional reduction: neutralization and transposition.
4. Synthetical and analytical forms. The notion of suppletivity.
Questions and Tasks:
1. Name the basic notions concerned with the categorial status of the word.
2. Give the definition of the grammatical meaning and name the grammatical means of its expression.
3. Give the definition of a grammatical category.
