//The city and its environs offer a wide range of sports centres, parks and natural reserves for your leisure time.// ‘Mens sana in corpore sano’ – this is really the rule in Forlì. The city and its environs offer a wide range of sports centres, parks and natural reserves for your leisure time. //As you know, sports does you good and it is the key factor to reduce your stress and to "recover energy". Yet students have often no wish to play sports, especially after a long working day and several classes and/or a lot of study in the library. Yet, you should know that fortunately (or unfortunately, for the laziest…), sports is the cure-all solution for your health. And this is particularly true in the early spring days, when you can do some jogging at the open air, stimulating your blood circulation and your brain activity at its best.//
And if all these reasons are not enough, let me say that the European Parliament has celebrated the European Year of Education through Sports in 2004 – I know, this is a real shock for the lazy students! So let’s wear gym shoes and let’s start to do some sports, but without getting dead tired! For example, trekking and footing in the surrounding hills and mountains as well as in the natural parks and reserves are often a good alternative for the young living in Forlì. These activities are strongly recommended because you can do some physical exercise in a marvellous natural landscape, a few steps from the city centre.
Given that in this section we talk about health, below we have also included all the most useful contacts in case of emergency: hospitals, night and first-aid stations, as well as contacts for alternative medicine solutions (which are more and more practised these days…).
Obviously, the University hopes that you will not need to call for these services, but it suggests you to undergo regular check-ups when possible. Here are some basic rules when doing some sports or just some physical exercise in a safer and relaxing way.
//TEN BASIC RULES FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
1. Have a good breakfast, first! Your first daily meal has to be light but plentiful. Remember an old Italian saying: "Have breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a poor".
2. Drink water during the day, taking small sips even when you seem not to be thirsty.
3. Do not take alcoholic drinks during the day if you are doing sports.
4. Eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, but without excluding food rich of proteins and carbohydrates (this is a rule for every day).
5. A varied and well balanced diet is part of a healthy life style.
6. Take your meal two hours before your sports activity.
7. Do not eat fried food, especially when you want to do some exercise. Fried and fatty food is difficult to digest.
8. In winter, try to dress yourself with a multiple-layer clothing style (i.e., more clothes are better than wearing one heavy item of clothing).
9. When it is cold, don’t forget to wear a hat (almost all body heat is dispersed from your head).
10. If you like going to the gym, makes an on-the-spot "inspection" and talk with some trainers before paying for your enrolment to the sports centre. At the gym, you can also meet new friends and why not… your "sweety heart". If you can win someone’s attention while you are sweating, you have nothing to lose!//
