DENTAL ASSISTANT: Dr. Katuna’s office. May I help you?

KAREN: Yes. I’d like to make an appointment for a dental checkup.

UNIT 1

Англійський приголосний [h]

Task 1. Виконайте артикуляційну гімнастику (див. Module 1 (Unit 1, Task 1).

Task 2. Ознайомтесь з артикуляцією фонеми [h]:

Основний відтінок фонеми [h] – гортанний щілинний шумний тривалий глухий приголосний звук.

Фонема [h] зустрічається на початку та у середині слова тільки перед голосною і не зустрічається у кінці слова. Тому можна сказати, що звук [h] власної артикуляції не має, а органи мовлення перебувають у позиціях, необхідних для вимовляння наступного за фонемою [h] голосного звука. Звук [h] нагадує звук спокійного видиху, коли повітряний струмінь проходить через гортань, не викликаючи вібрації голосових зв’язок. Останні начинають вібрувати тільки після приєднання до приголосного [h] наступного голосного звука.

Англійський приголосний [T]

Task 1. Виконайте артикуляційну гімнастику (див. Module 1 (Unit 1, Task 1).

Task 2. Ознайомтесь з артикуляцією фонеми [T]:

Основний відтінок фонеми [T] - передньоязиковий апікальний міжзубний пласкощілинний фрикативний фортисний (сильний) довгий глухий приголосний звук.

В українській мові не icнyє аналога цього англійського звука. При вимовлянні фонеми [T] язик розпластаний та напружений. а кінчик язика розташований між передніми верхніми та нижніми зубами, утворюючи вузьку пласку щілину мiж ріжучим краєм верхніх зyбiв та поверхнею переднього краю язика. У цю щілину продувається повітря, внаслідок чого продукується глухий звук [T]. Положения губ залежить від сусідніх по відношенню до звука [T] звуків: губи розтягнуті або нейтральні у словах типу theme [Ti:m], health [helT] i лабіалізовані у словах типу thought [TLt], truth [tru:T].
