6. Conclusions
Development
of the syntactic system in ME and Early NE was characterized by the
following changes:

The
sentence structure became more orderly and uniform and at the same
time more complicated due to inclusion of more extended and complex
parts.

The
word order in a sentence was stabilized: it became fixed and direct.

The
structure of the main word phrases – with nouns, adjectives and
verbs as head-words – was altered considerably due to decreasing
agreement between the components.

In
Late ME and Early NE predicative constructions of different types
came to be widely used with an increasing number of verbs.
