Voltage and Current dividers
Voltage divider
Objective:
To view the principle of the voltage divider and current. Calculate voltage values using a rule of division of voltage and current and to confirm the rule (principle) by dividing the voltage measurements. Find and eliminate damage to current and voltage dividers.
Equipment:
• PU-2000 CPU;
• PCB U-101;
• Multimeter.
Introduction
The voltage divider is a resistance network, which is used to reduce the input voltage to a lower value. The formula for calculating the output voltage is
Vout=(resistance which is measured by output / total resistance of the circuit) * Uin
The order of performance:
A voltage divider
1. Insert the circuit board in U-101 CPU PU-2000.
2. Set both the power supply voltage of 0 volts. Connect the resistors R7 and R8 as a voltage divider as shown in Figure 1.
3. Measure the value of resistance R7 and R8.
4. Install the power supply PS-1 to 7.5V voltage. Use meter for measuring the voltage from the power source and the voltage across the resistor R8. Record the two readings.
Uin =
UR8 =
5. Using the formula to calculate the theoretical voltage divider output voltage using the output resistance R8 and R7 + R8 for total resistance.

6. Re-attach the power source voltage is 0V and tear chain.
7. Collect the circuit, as shown in Figure 2, forming a voltage divider comprising four resistors.
8. Measure the value of resistance R5 and R6.
9. Adjust the power supply PS-1 to the value 8B, measure and record the output voltage of the voltage divider on the R8.

11. Install the power supply voltage is 0V and open circuit.
Current divider
Current divider is a resistance network that reduces the input current to a lower value. The formula for calculating the output value is:
12. Replace the power supply voltage of 0V and connect the power divider network comprising resistors 3 shown in the figure. Install the power supply PS-1 for voltage 10V.
13. Calculate conductivity of R1, R2 and R3. Then add them to obtain an overall conductivity of the network:
G1 =
G2 =
G3 =
Gall = G1 + G2 + G3 ...
14. Measure and record the input current Iin =
15. Using the formula to calculate the output current in R1, R2 and R3:
16. Confirm the calculations by measuring the currents in all three resistances, reinstall the power supply PS-1 to the 0V voltage and open circuit.
