1. Physics is the oldest and the most basic of the sciences. The closest discipline to physics in interest and approach is chemistry. The main difference is that chemistry deals with matter at the molecular lever and with molecular interactions whereas physics is more concerned with atoms which make up molecules, with the protons, neutrons, and electrons out of which atoms are constructed and with macroscopic properties of the matter.
Mathematics as a discipline is more concerned with the proper ordering of mathematical concepts and constructs than with physical reality. Physics takes many of the results of mathematics and uses them to better describe the reality. It is more concerned with the application of mathematical ideas than with the ideas themselves.
2. You can jump higher on the Moon than on the Earth because your body would weigh (весило бы) six times less there. This is because the Moon’s gravity is one-sixth of the gravity on the Earth. However, you could not (не могли бы) jump six times as high as you can on the Earth because you would have to wear a heavy and bulky spacesuit to stay alive.
