MY FUTURE PROFESSION

There are a lot of interesting and noble professions. And it’s not easy to decide what profession to choose. There are so many people who influence you in choosing your occupation. Parents and friends play a very important role in your choice. But still it’s rather difficult to choose a profession out of more than

2000 existing in the world.

I would say it’s because a lot may change in our life in a moment. There are lucky people who chose their profession in childhood and since then have been doing everything possible to acquire proficiency. But they are few. If we are not indifferent to our future, while thinking about the future career we are to pay attention to a number of important things. We should determine our abilities and inclinations. Then we should analyse job perspectives. We must know whether the profession we have chosen will guarantee good living conditions and give promotion. We must be sure we’ll avoid unemployment or at least will be able to apply our knowledge and skills in other field of human activity. In short, we are to decide what we are going to do in our life and feel satisfied, but not bored or disappointed.

As for me I made my choice long ago. While choosing a job one should take into consideration: wages and salaries, job satisfaction, opportunities for travel and to see much, etc. For me, the most important criterion is job satisfaction and that’s why I’ve chosen the profession of an economist. It’s very responsible occupation. Our country is going through a difficult period now. Economic restructuring doesn’t lead everyone to success. A lot of people are unemployed. There are winners and losers. An economist (a manager) deals mainly with people. He studies what is necessary to do that people worked better and were not offended. I understand the difficulties of this profession. But I believe this specialty is really needed and I hope that I can help a lot of people.

I can’t tell much about my future plans because I haven’t definite life plans.

At the end of the academic session I am going to take exams and I hope to pass them successfully. Then I am going to have my holidays. They are not going to be long. I am going to spend my holidays at home. I like to read fantastic stories and I am going read one of them. In the evening my friends and I are going to walk or to go to the cinema. If the weather is bad, I’ll watch TV at home.

PART C

MY STUDENT LIFE

Usually I get up at 7 o’clock on week-days. I do my bed and open the window. Sometimes I do my morning exercises, but not always. Then I go to the bathroom where I wash myself and clean my teeth. Sometimes I take a shower.

After that I go back to my bedroom, dress myself and brush my hair. In five minutes I am ready for breakfast. I usually have a cup of tea or coffee and a sandwich. After breakfast I take my bag, put on my coat and go to the Academy.

I live not far from my Academy and it takes me only ten minutes to walk there. I am never late for the first lesson because I come to the Academy a few minutes before the bell. I leave my coat in the cloakroom and go to the classroom. Our lessons begin at 8.30 (at half past eight). Every day we have 3 or 4 periods of two lessons in different subjects ‒ special and humanitarian. The latter include history, philosophy, and political science and so on. Two times a week we have English classes. At our lessons we read, write, retell texts, translate sentences and learn Grammar rules.

The lessons are over at about 2 p.m. and I go home. Sometimes after the lessons I go to the library to take some necessary books. I usually do my hometask at home. As a rule, I have no free time on my week-days as I am very busy with my studies.

Sometimes I have dinner at my Academy canteen. For dinner I usually have soup for the first course, meat or fish with some salad for the second. I drink milk or a cup of tea.

Twice a week I go to the swimming pool. Besides I play volleyball in the Academy team and we have our training at our big gymnasium.

In the evening all the members of our family get together. We have supper, watch TV or read books. Reading is my hobby. I like to read detective stories and books of modern writers. At about eleven o’clock I go to bed.
