Topologies
-
Define topology.
A network topology determines the layout of the network and the types of devices that will be used at each segment.
-
Describe star topology.
Used with twisted pair cabling. Devices radiate from a center hub or router like spokes on a wheel. Communication goes through the central networking device.
-
Describe bus topology.
Components are connected in a straight-line configuration. The networking cable is terminated at each end. The information travels across the network in one direction.
-
Describe ring topology.
Much like a bus topology, but the ends are not terminated, but meet back up with each other. The data flows in one direction around the network..
