Eating Habits

To begin with, I would like to say that every country in the world has it’s own geographical location, history, traditions and also cuisine. It’s a widely spread stereotype that the Belarusian people eat potatoes for every time of a day meal, but it’s not so in our real everyday life. Potato is considered to be the most popular ingredient of our meal. It’s different to imagine our festive table without it.

According to my lifestyle I meanly eat early in the morning and in the evening, when I come home from the university. My breakfast usually consists of a cup of tea or coffee and some sandwiches or cookies. I have a substantial course for dinner, which consists of a bowl of soup and fried eggs with sausages. Sometimes in the university I can have a bite and eat an apple.

A distinctive feature of the Belarusian cuisine is widespread potato dishes and the use of variety of sausages, cereals, mushrooms and pork. The most popular dish is so-called “hush browns”, pancakes made from potatoes. The traditional English breakfast consists of bacon, eggs and sausages preceded by fruit and followed by toasts. Although the British eat such breakfast on the weekends or on special occasions, they still prefer to start a day with a smaller number of healthier nourishment. Dinner is usually the main meal of the day, which consists of two dishes- meat or fish with vegetables, followed by dessert or pudding. All in all the Belarusian people prefer staying at home and having family dinners while the British people prefer going to the fast food restaurants and cafes.

In my opinion everybody must know the table manners in order to have a good time during a meal. It’s really unpleasant when someone spoils your appetite by criticizing what you are going to eat, for example. You can do all activities when you are alone and on your own if it brings you any pleasure but not in company especially when you are eating out.

On these days of fast living many people have little time for their meals. They want smth cheap, quick and easy. The fast food companies, like McDonalds and Burger King sell millions of meals a year-and make a lot of money. Many people like fast food, because it’s quick, it’s easy and it can be quite good for them. But fast food has disadvantages, for example, food some consists of generally the chemicals, you can fast gain weight and etc. I think it’s better to eat at home, because homemade food has better taste than in a restaurant. It is fed and healthier.

If you want to lose weight you should go on a slimming diet. Many people think that it means not to eat and starve and do many physical exercises but this belief is not right. You just need to follow simple advice to reach a success. I can recommend the next rules. Firstly cut down on sugar and all kinds of pastry. Replace it with honey and fruit or vegetables. Secondly try to have your meals at regular hours. But the way, it’s better to have a hearty breakfast and light dinner. One little rule for you: go to bed 2-3 hours after you have a meal. It’s not a secret that exercises are a very important part of any diet. But be careful! 30 minutes energetic exercise each day is enough to make your body slim. If you follow this slimming diet you will be satisfied with your body.
